Schools across Yatta are set to benefit from a new consignment of relief food, thanks to successful lobbying efforts by the area Member of Parliament. The delivery, which includes rice and beans, will support the ongoing school feeding program aimed at keeping learners in class and improving educational outcomes.
Distribution of the food items will begin tomorrow at the Deputy County Commissioner’s Office under the supervision of the Relief Food Committee, chaired by DCC James Chacha. The committee will oversee the fair and coordinated delivery of supplies to schools within the constituency.
Speaking on the development, officials emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader commitment to ensure that no child in Yatta goes hungry while pursuing their education.
“We recognize the challenges many families face, and this intervention is designed to ease that burden and create a conducive learning environment for all children,” said a statement from the MP’s office.
Parents, teachers, and community leaders have welcomed the move, noting that school meals not only address hunger but also boost student attendance, concentration, and performance. The distribution is expected to cover both primary and secondary schools across the region.
This marks another milestone in the constituency’s efforts to safeguard children’s welfare and invest in the future through education.
