Stop Disrespecting Kalonzo!” — Matinyani MCA Yaamu Slams Kitui Speaker for Snubbing Tseikuru Event

Matinyani Ward MCA Hon. Sylvester Kitheka, popularly known as Yaamu, has called out Kitui County Assembly Speaker Kelvin Kinengo for what he termed as blatant disrespect towards Wiper Party leader and Ukambani political kingpin H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka.

In a strongly-worded statement, Yaamu condemned the decision to proceed with committee meetings in the Kitui County Assembly on the same day Kalonzo Musyoka was hosting a high-profile political event at his rural home in Tseikuru.

“This is pure madness,” Yaamu declared. “The Assembly is dominated by Wiper MCAs, yet instead of showing solidarity with our party leader, we are locked up in committee sessions. This is open defiance and a serious show of disrespect.”

The Matinyani legislator did not mince his words as he directly accused Speaker Kinengo — a Tseikuru native and former Personal Assistant to Kalonzo — of turning his back on the man who mentored him politically.

“To crown it with a middle finger to the Wiper Party Leader and Ukambani Kingpin, our Speaker is chairing a committee meeting instead of standing with the community. Akamba twaoiwe nuu kweli?” [Are we really okay as a community?], Yaamu lamented.

He called on elected leaders within the Wiper Party, especially those from Kitui, to uphold unity and loyalty to Kalonzo Musyoka, who remains a central figure in the region’s political landscape and a key national leader.

“This nonsense must stop. Kalonzo deserves respect. The entire Kamba nation is watching. Leaders cannot claim to support him while engaging in acts of sabotage behind the scenes,” Yaamu said.

The remarks underscore growing internal tensions within the Kitui County Assembly, where some leaders appear to be distancing themselves from the Wiper Party’s central leadership — raising concerns about factionalism and divided loyalties ahead of the 2027 political season.

Efforts to reach Speaker Kinengo for a response were unsuccessful by the time of publication.
