Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Hon. Jonathan Mueke, on Saturday joined Deputy President Kithure Kindiki at Kwa Mutonga, Kitui West, for a high-level empowerment forum aimed at uplifting women groups and local SACCOs in the region.
The event, which drew thousands of residents and leaders from across Kitui County and beyond, focused on promoting grassroots economic empowerment in line with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
During the tour, key government development projects were highlighted, including the ongoing construction of the Kitui Livestock Training Institute, the livestock restocking program targeting drought-affected households, rural electrification initiatives, and ongoing road infrastructure upgrades across the county.
The forum was attended by a strong delegation of leaders, among them Kitui South MP Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, Mwala MP Vincent Kawaya, Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, CRA Commissioner Benedict Muasya, and former Kitui Central MP aspirant Boniface Musambi, popularly known as Nzeve Nzau.
Speaking during the event, PS Mueke emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of arid and semi-arid land (ASAL) communities through sustainable livestock development and targeted empowerment.
The Deputy President praised local leadership for their unity and focus on service delivery, urging continued collaboration to transform the lives of citizens at the grassroots.
The empowerment event marked yet another milestone in the government’s outreach efforts to ensure no region is left behind in national development.
