Kitui South MP, Dr. Racheal Nyamai, has reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with the government to ensure that development reaches her constituents.
Speaking at the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Annual General Meeting in Mutomo, Dr. Nyamai emphasized that her collaboration with the government is driven by the need to secure crucial infrastructure projects, including roads, water supply, and other essential services for the people of Kitui South.
Since her election in 2013, Dr. Nyamai has aligned herself with the ruling administration, a decision she credits for major development milestones in the region. One of the key achievements she highlighted is the successful construction of the 147-kilometer Kitui-Kibwezi tarmac road, which has significantly improved connectivity and boosted economic activities.
Looking ahead, she revealed that she has already engaged President William Ruto regarding the tarmacking of the Mutha-Kanziko-Ikutha-Kyandula-Kwa Vonza road. She expressed confidence that once completed, this project will be a game-changer for the region, opening up new economic opportunities for residents.
Dr. Nyamai, who was accompanied by Principal Secretary for Livestock Development Jonathan Mueke, security expert Nicholas Mulila, and other government officials, urged teachers to remain united and take advantage of government initiatives for their benefit.
Defending her decision to work with the government, she reiterated that collaborating with the administration in power is the most effective way to bring tangible development to Kitui South. She acknowledged facing opposition since 2013 but maintained that her focus remains on delivering meaningful progress rather than engaging in political rivalries.
Additionally, she expressed optimism about securing large-scale water projects for the region, stressing that “the opposition has nothing to offer in terms of development.”
Dr. Nyamai assured residents that she will continue advocating for more government-backed projects in Kitui South, reaffirming her unwavering commitment to prioritizing the needs of her constituents.
