Tourism Fund Director Mr. Patrick Ngere was among top leaders who graced a major youth and women empowerment event held at Baraza Park, Migwani, in Mwingi West Constituency.
The event, organized and hosted by Mwingi West MP Hon. Charles Nguna, saw over 150 youth and women groups benefit from empowerment support aimed at boosting livelihoods and promoting self-reliance across the constituency.
Mr. Ngere lauded the initiative as timely and impactful, noting that empowering grassroots communities aligns with the national development agenda. He emphasized the importance of investing in youth and women as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth.
“I am proud to witness such a strong commitment to community empowerment. These are the kinds of programs that change lives and build the future of our country,” said Ngere during his address.
The event drew an impressive list of leaders including the Speaker of the National Assembly H.E Rt. Hon. Moses Wetangula, Principal Secretary for Sports and the Arts Jonathan Mueke, and several Members of Parliament: Hon. Eng. Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Hon. John Makali (Kanduyi), Hon. Eckomas Mutuse (Kibwezi West), and Hon. Fabian Muli (Kang’undo).
Also in attendance were Senators Tabitha Mutinda and David Musila, the Speaker of the Kitui County Assembly, and 45 Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), underscoring the significance of the event.
The leaders commended Hon. Charles Nguna for his continued efforts to uplift the people of Mwingi West through meaningful, development-focused programs. Mr. Ngere pledged continued support from the Tourism Fund, particularly in tapping into the region’s tourism potential to create more opportunities for youth and women.
The event concluded with the distribution of various empowerment items and support packages to the beneficiary groups, as calls for sustained collaboration between national and county leaders echoed throughout the gathering.
