Kitui East Member of Parliament Hon. Nimrod Mbai has called on critics to cease their attacks on Kitui County Commissioner Mr. Kipchumba Ruto, who authorized the distribution of relief food in the region.
Addressing the press, Mbai clarified that the decision to distribute the relief food, stored at government facilities, was made following a meeting with President William Ruto. Both Mbai and Kitui South MP Hon. Rachel Nyamai met with the president to expedite the distribution process to aid local beneficiaries.
“The president directed that the relief food be distributed promptly to those in need,” said Mbai. He emphasized that this initiative was a direct result of their discussions with the president, and not an independent decision by the county commissioner.
Mbai urged local leaders to stop criticizing Commissioner Kipchumba Ruto, noting that such attacks indirectly target the president himself, who authorized the distribution. “By attacking the County Commissioner, they are attacking the president, who ordered the distribution of the relief food,” he stated.
The Mp asked DCC and entire Ngao team who Will be distributing relief food to make sure they don’t issue the expired food to the resistents, he further said the work of distributing food is for Ngao not for the cabinet secretaries.
The MPs’ intervention seeks to clarify the chain of command and reinforce the government’s commitment to addressing food insecurity in Kitui County.
