Wiper Democratic Movement party has issued a formal “Notice to Show Cause” to Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, demanding an explanation for his recent political conduct that the party terms as a violation of its constitution.
In a strongly worded letter dated June 13, 2025, Wiper accuses Speaker Kinengo of openly associating with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party through a series of meetings held at State House and a political rally in Kitui.
According to the party, Speaker Kinengo attended a meeting at State House Nairobi on May 21, 2025, chaired by President William Ruto, the UDA Party Leader. He is also accused of participating in a subsequent State House meeting on June 3, alongside the Machakos County Assembly Speaker, and of publicly declaring cooperation with UDA leaders during a rally led by Deputy UDA Party Leader Prof. Kithure Kindiki on June 6 in Kitui County.
Wiper claims these actions amount to promoting and advancing the interests of another political party, which the party says contravenes various provisions of its constitution, including articles on party loyalty, discipline, and political affiliation.
“You are hereby accorded an opportunity to show cause in writing why disciplinary action should not be taken against you,” the notice reads, giving Kinengo a 14-day deadline that ends on June 27, 2025, at 5:00 PM.
The party further warned that failure to respond within the stipulated time would be interpreted as an admission of guilt, and the Disciplinary Committee will proceed to determine the matter without further reference to the Speaker.
The move signals growing tensions within the Wiper Party amid increasing realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Efforts to reach Hon. Kinengo for comment were unsuccessful by tcd digital press time.
