Yatta Kwa Vonza Member of County Assembly (MCA), Hon. Mark Ndingo, this afternoon presided over the official site handover for the drilling and equipping of a borehole at Ilika Secondary School in Ilika village.
The project, which aims to provide clean and reliable water, will benefit both Ilika Primary and Secondary schools, as well as the wider Ilika community. The borehole marks a significant milestone in the area’s efforts to address long-standing water challenges.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Hon. Ndingo emphasized the importance of the project in transforming lives, particularly for students who have faced disruptions due to water shortages. “This borehole will not only serve our schools but also ensure the community has access to safe water,” he said.
For many years, Ilika residents have relied on the contaminated waters of River Athi, raising serious health and sanitation concerns. The new borehole is expected to significantly improve the quality of life and learning environment for students and families alike.
Community members and school leaders lauded the initiative, calling it a “game-changer” for Ilika village. Works on the project are expected to commence immediately.
