Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Ndingo Hands Over Newly Built Sand Dam to the Community

The Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Yatta Kwa Vonza Ward, Hon. Mark Ndingo, today presided over the official handover and inspection of a newly completed sand dam project at Kwa Mwenzwa, Kalivini, and Nyanyaa Ndunguni.

The project, undertaken by the County Government of Kitui under the stewardship of H.E. Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, aims to provide a sustainable source of water for domestic use, agriculture, and livestock while also contributing to environmental conservation by recharging underground water tables.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Ndingo lauded the initiative, terming it a game-changer for the semi-arid region. “This sand dam will not only ease the burden of water scarcity for our people but also help conserve our environment for generations to come,” he said.

Local residents expressed gratitude to the county leadership for prioritizing water accessibility, a key challenge in the area.

The sand dam is part of Governor Malombe’s broader agenda to enhance climate resilience and improve rural livelihoods across Kitui County.
