You Did Not Make Me Speaker!” – Kevin Katisya Slams Wiper Over Show Cause Letter

Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kevin Katisya has hit out at the Wiper Democratic Movement–Kenya (WDM-K), accusing the party of intimidation and political bullying following a show cause letter issued to him by the party.

Speaking during an interview on Mutongoi TV, Speaker Katisya said the party has no authority to question his position as Speaker, stating that he was elected by Members of County Assembly (MCAs) from across the political divide — not by the Wiper Party.

“You did not make me Speaker! Wiper had their own candidate, Hon. George Ndoto, but I defeated him hands down. I was elected by MCAs from different parties. They can remove me from Wiper, but they cannot remove me as Speaker,” Katisya stated.

The lawyer-turned-politician dismissed the show cause letter as a flawed attempt to silence him, criticizing the legal advice that led to its drafting.

“As a lawyer, I know what the law says. The advocate who advised Wiper to write that letter should be sacked — he misled them,” he said.

Katisya also revealed that he had been kicked out of the party’s internal WhatsApp communication group, but insisted that he remains a life member of Wiper after paying a KSh 100,000 fee — money he says he borrowed through a loan.

“I will leave Wiper when I want. I took a loan to pay KSh 100,000 to be a life member. They should actually apologize to me and other loyal members who have suffered under their leadership,” he added.

Katisya’s remarks come at a time when cracks are beginning to show within Wiper’s Kitui leadership, as some leaders accuse the party of dictatorship and unfair treatment.

The Speaker maintained that he will not be intimidated by internal party politics and vowed to continue discharging his duties independently and in accordance with the law.
