Boda boda riders in Ikanga Town have expressed their gratitude to Kitui South MP Dr. Racheal Kaki Nyamai for facilitating the construction of a new boda boda shade to improve their working environment.
The facility was commissioned on Saturday by Dr. Nyamai together with Madam Miriam Maingi, following a request by boda boda riders who had sought a sheltered area where they could operate and serve residents comfortably.
Speaking during the commissioning, Chairman of the Ikanga Boda Boda Community, Mr. Makuu, thanked Dr. Nyamai for listening to the riders and responding to their concerns.
He said the riders were particularly grateful for having a Member of Parliament who, in their view, listens to the needs of local residents and acts on their requests.
The riders had approached Madam Miriam Maingi with a request for a boda boda shade. According to the leaders, construction was completed within three days under Maingi’s guidance and on behalf of Dr. Nyamai.
Dr. Nyamai also pledged to work towards the installation of streetlights in Ikanga Town, saying improved lighting would enhance security and enable boda boda operators to work more safely, especially at night.
The development comes as Dr. Nyamai continues to engage residents through various community empowerment and development initiatives across Kitui South.
During the event, the boda boda riders declared their support for Dr. Nyamai’s bid for a fourth term as Kitui South MP and expressed support for President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027.
Dr. Nyamai, while addressing residents, urged voters to remain focused and make informed decisions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
She challenged residents to accept financial offers from political competitors if offered but ultimately vote according to their own judgment, saying voters should not allow temporary political handouts to determine their long-term choice of leaders.
