Outstanding Kitui Central MP Hon. (Dr) Makali Mulu, CBS, and a front-runner for the Kitui County gubernatorial race in 2027, on Thursday led the distribution of Uwezo Fund cheques totaling Ksh 4.2 million to 46 women and youth groups.
The event, held at the Kitui Central Constituency Office, saw groups drawn from across the constituency receive funding aimed at boosting income-generating activities and improving economic livelihoods.
Dr. Mulu emphasized the importance of financial empowerment in transforming communities, especially among youth, women, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
“This is a big step in empowering our people to build sustainable livelihoods. We must support those at the grassroots to create wealth and drive development,” he said.
The MP reaffirmed his commitment to promoting inclusive economic empowerment and noted that such initiatives were part of his broader agenda for the county ahead of the 2027 elections.
The event was marked with excitement and gratitude from beneficiaries, who praised the MP’s leadership and vision for a more empowered and self-reliant Kitui County.
