Prominent Kitui County leaders gathered at Mamole Grounds in Yatta/Kwa Vonza Ward to attend the burial of the late Mama Joyce Kalumu Mwongela, a respected community servant and devout Christian. Mama Kalumu, the mother of Ben Mwongela (Muthukumi), was honored by a large crowd, including various local and national leaders.
The ceremony was hosted by Hon. Mark Ndingo, MCA for Yatta/Kwa Vonza Ward, and graced by Kitui County Woman Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu and Kitui Central MP Dr. Makali Mulu. In their tributes, the leaders spoke of Mama Kalumu’s strong commitment to serving her community and her unwavering faith.
Other notable attendees included Daniel Mulatya, Manager of the Kitui Rural Constituency Office, and Hon. Jane Kibati. The leaders offered words of comfort to the bereaved family and emphasized the importance of community unity during such difficult times.
Mama Kalumu’s passing is a great loss to the Kitui community, and her legacy as a dedicated Christian and servant to her people will be remembered for years to come.
