The Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, has officially appointed Bishop Simon Peter Kamomoe as the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wote, confirming the cleric who has been serving the young diocese as Apostolic Administrator since March 2026.

The announcement was communicated by the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya, Bert Van Megen, who stated that the Holy Father had chosen Bishop Kamomoe, currently serving as Auxiliary Bishop and Apostolic

Administrator of Wote, to shepherd the diocese on a permanent basis.

Bishop Kamomoe’s appointment has been received with joy among Catholic faithful, clergy, and leaders within the Wote Diocese and across the country. His leadership during the transition period has been praised for strengthening pastoral work, unity among Christians, and the growth of the Church in the region.
