Mark Nding’o Joins Gov Malombe in Unveiling kitui Infrastructure Projects Dashboard to Boost Transparency

Yatta/Kwa Vonza Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Hon. Mark Nding’o joined Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe during the unveiling of the Kitui County Infrastructure Projects Dashboard, a digital platform designed to document, track and showcase development projects implemented across the county since the introduction of devolution in 2013.

The dashboard was officially launched at the Governor’s Office Grounds, with Governor Malombe describing it as a major milestone in strengthening transparency, accountability and evidence-based governance in Kitui County.

According to the Governor, the platform currently contains records of 12,423 infrastructure projects implemented across the county as of June 30, 2025, reflecting the county government’s development progress over the years.

“The projects include 3,403 water projects, 3,118 road projects, 2,154 education projects, 1,831 health and sanitation projects, 1,442 energy and environmental projects, 160 agricultural projects, 149 projects in gender, culture, sports and tourism, 163 governance, ICT and administration projects, and three disaster management projects,” Dr. Malombe said.

He noted that the figures demonstrate the scale of development achieved under devolution and the county government’s commitment to improving service delivery.

Governor Malombe also highlighted significant milestones in the education sector, revealing that 1,403 modern Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) classrooms have been constructed since devolution, enhancing access to quality learning environments for young learners across the county.

He further explained that the newly launched dashboard will assist the county government in identifying development gaps, including the 285 primary school centres that are yet to receive modern ECDE classrooms, helping guide future investment priorities.

The county chief stated that the dashboard provides detailed information on project locations, implementation periods and financial allocations. Additionally, all projects have been geo-referenced, allowing residents and stakeholders to accurately locate and verify development projects within their respective localities.

Leaders present during the launch praised the initiative as a transformative step towards promoting openness, public participation and accountability in county governance.
