Kitui County Assembly Approves Harrison Maluki Mawia as New Clerk

The County Assembly of Kitui has approved Hon. Harrison Maluki Mawia as the new Clerk of the Assembly following a resolution passed during the afternoon sitting of the House on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Hon. Mawia, who has been serving as the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Migwani Ward and the Majority Leader, was endorsed by the Assembly after the County Assembly Service Board concluded the recruitment process for the position. His appointment marks a transition from elective leadership to the Assembly’s top administrative office.

As the new Clerk, Hon. Mawia will be responsible for overseeing the administrative operations of the County Assembly. His duties include serving as the custodian of Assembly records, providing procedural and administrative support to Members, and acting as the Secretary to the County Assembly Service Board.

Speaking after the approval, the Assembly, led by Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, congratulated Hon. Mawia on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to steer the institution’s administration with professionalism and integrity. Members wished him success as he assumes his new responsibilities.

The approval paves the way for Hon. Mawia to officially take over the office of Clerk, a critical position that plays a central role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the County Assembly’s legislative and administrative affairs.
