Kitui West parliamentary aspirant and Commissioner at the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), Benedict Muasya, on Friday joined fellow Kenya Kwanza leaders at a Development and Welfare Groups Empowerment Forum held in Kivou Ward, Mwingi Central Constituency. The event was hosted by Mwingi Central MP Hon. Joe Mutambu and co-hosted by Kitui South MP Hon. Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, CBS, bringing together national and county leaders to engage residents on development priorities.
The forum attracted a host of senior leaders, including Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke, Kitui East MP Hon. Nimrod Mbai, Mwingi West MP Hon. Charles Nguna, Hon. Boniface Musambi, former Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza, Dr. Moses Banda, Hon. Beth Syengo, Hon. Mbaki Mbaki, Hon. Martha Mati, Hon. Deborah Mutuku, Hon. Stanley See Nzomo, among other leaders committed to advancing the region’s development agenda.
Addressing the gathering, Muasya drew from his role as a Commissioner at the Commission on Revenue Allocation to highlight the significance of the Equalization Fund in improving livelihoods across marginalized areas. He disclosed that Kitui County is set to receive KSh 646 million under the fund, with KSh 95 million specifically allocated to Mwingi Central Constituency.
Muasya emphasized that the allocation presents an opportunity to accelerate development at the grassroots level if the resources are managed prudently. He noted that the funds should be directed towards projects that address the everyday needs of residents and improve the quality of life across communities.
According to the Commissioner, priority areas for investment include expanding access to clean water, strengthening healthcare services, improving road infrastructure, supporting education, and enhancing other essential public services. He stressed that such investments would promote equitable development and bridge existing infrastructure gaps.
He further observed that public resources achieve their greatest value when they directly benefit wananchi, restore dignity to underserved communities, and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth. Muasya called on leaders and stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability in the utilization of the Equalization Fund.
The empowerment forum formed part of ongoing engagements by Kenya Kwanza leaders aimed at promoting development, empowering community groups, and fostering collaboration between national and local leadership. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working together to deliver tangible development projects that improve the welfare of residents across Kitui County.
