Senator Sifuna: Opposition Will Use Constitution as Manifesto to Send Ruto Home

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has said the Linda Mwananchi political faction will use the Constitution as its manifesto in the push to remove President William Ruto from power in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking in Kitui on Monday during the gubernatorial campaign launch of Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua, Sifuna dismissed President Ruto’s criticism that the opposition lacks a campaign agenda beyond the “one-term” slogan. He argued that development can take place under either a democratic or dictatorial government, but said the opposition’s priority was to ensure Kenyans enjoy constitutional freedoms and rights.

Sifuna said the opposition’s vision for the next government includes protecting freedom of expression and speech, strengthening the rule of law and ensuring that extrajudicial killings never occur in the country. He maintained that political party manifestos are ultimately anchored in the Constitution, arguing that the Constitution, together with the “one-term” message, provides sufficient grounds for the opposition to campaign for a change of government.

Meanwhile, Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua pledged to deliver what he described as transformative development for the people of Kitui if elected governor. Wambua said he was capable and ready to take on the responsibility of leading the county and addressing the needs of its residents.
