NCIC Commissioner Jerussah Muathime Holds Working Breakfast with Swedish Ambassador

National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Commissioner Jerussah Muathime held a working breakfast with Sweden’s Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Håkan Åkesson, at the Ambassador’s residence.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the NCIC and the Embassy of Sweden to reflect on their longstanding partnership and explore areas for continued collaboration in promoting national cohesion, peace and inclusion in Kenya.

Discussions focused on the Commission’s priorities ahead of the 2027 General Election, including the #ElectionsBilaNoma Roadmap, strengthening peacebuilding initiatives, enhancing early conflict prevention mechanisms and promoting a peaceful and inclusive electoral environment across the country.

Commissioner Muathime underscored the importance of strong partnerships between the NCIC, development partners and other stakeholders as Kenya approaches the next electoral cycle.

Such partnerships, the Commission noted, are critical in supporting sustainable peace, strengthening social cohesion and ensuring that all Kenyans can participate in democratic processes without fear, intimidation or division.

The engagement comes as stakeholders intensify efforts to promote peaceful coexistence and prevent conflicts ahead of the 2027 polls.

Peace is a shared responsibility, and lasting cohesion requires sustained engagement, prevention and partnership.
