Monday 10th June, 2024The aggregation power of Cooperatives in bringing together farmers and other production sectors of the economy is poised to play a major role in the transformation of the economy of Kitui county as well as placing the county on the road path of sustainable industrialization.
This was affirmed by the County Executive for Trade Rose Mutuku when she attended a Sacco sensitization forum on The National Agricultural and Value Chain Development Project ( NAVCDP) in Yatta/ kwa Vonza and Mulango Wards of Kitui Rural and Kitui Central Sub Counties.
In her remarks, the CECM emphasized the importance of Saccos saying they will contribute to economic and Agricultural development alongside eradicating poverty. She called on farmers to join Saccos to exploit the benefits that will be brought along by the up coming Kitui County Industrial and Aggregation Park.” Aggregation and Value addition through Cooperatives will lead to economic transformation” she said.
The CECM noted that most farmers in Kitui are small holder producers and aggregation could be the only way to assist them.The CECM was accompanied by the Chief Officer Agriculture and Fisheries Gladys Kivoto among other officers.
