In a tragic incident, armed bandits attacked Mandongoi Village in Ngomeni Ward, Mwingi North Sub-County, leaving a boy shot and critically injured, and multiple homes and food stores destroyed. The violent assault took place last night, causing widespread panic among residents.
Kitui County’s Minister for Water and Irrigation, Peter Nkunda, who also oversees departments under the Governor’s office, visited the affected village earlier today. He was accompanied by the Chief Officer for Transport, Peter Musya, and Ngomeni Member of County Assembly (MCA), Hon. Nzungi Ngwele.
The delegation was sent by Kitui Governor, Dr. Julius Malombe, to assess the damage and gather information for immediate intervention.Families in the affected areas, particularly those living beyond Mandongoi market, have been forced to flee with their livestock, fearing further attacks.
Tensions remain high, as the local community grapples with the aftermath of the assault and anxiously awaits government action.The County Government has vowed to take swift measures to restore security and provide assistance to the affected families.
