Charity Ngilu Urges Raila Odinga to Endorse Kalonzo Musyoka for President

Former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has called on Raila Odinga to endorse Kalonzo Musyoka as the next presidential candidate for the Azimio la Umoja coalition. Speaking at a public event over the weekend in kyusu, Ngilu emphasized the importance of unity within the coalition and highlighted Kalonzo’s readiness to lead.

“We belong to Azimio. Our former presidential candidate has looked elsewhere. Raila Odinga has exited the local political arena. That leaves one of our own, Kalonzo, only a heartbeat from the throne,” Ngilu stated.

Ngilu underscored her commitment to personally advocating for Kalonzo’s candidacy. “I will go and talk to him and ask him to declare Kalonzo the presidential candidate. Our very own can be at the helm, or does it break any bone?” she added.

The appeal comes amid a period of significant political realignment in Kenya, with key figures within Azimio la Umoja seeking to solidify their positions ahead of the next general election. Kalonzo Musyoka, a veteran politician and former Vice President, has been a central figure in Kenyan politics and is seen by many within the coalition as a viable candidate to lead the nation.

Ngilu’s call is expected to spark further discussions within the coalition and among its supporters, as the political landscape continues to evolve in the run-up to the election.
