CRA Holds Talks with Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe

Kitui Governor Dr. Julbius Malombe today hosted the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) team, led by Commissioner Benedict Muasya, for a courtesy call._The Commission is in Kitui to assess the County’s Own Source Revenue Streams to inform the development of revenue mapping guidelines for the County.

In this, the CRA is working with the State Department for Devolution (SDD) in the Office of tge Deputy of the Deputy President and with support from the World Bank.*The meeting _also focused on assessing revenue performance, addressing challenges, and reviewing data accuracy.

Governor Malombe commended the CRA for supporting counties in boosting their OSR and for its advisory role on financial management and resource allocation. He highlighted the Commission’s key role in recommending financing and management strategies for both levels of government.CRA Commissioner Muasya indicated the Commission’s commitment to equitable revenue sharing, recommending the equalization fund formula, enhancing revenue sources, promoting fiscal responsibility, and identifying marginalized areas through regular policy reviews.

Kitui’s OSR has grown due to improved strategies, including data mapping, revenue automation, stakeholder engagement, and enforcement.Commissioner Muasya was accompanied by Fridah Mutua – Researcher on revenue enhancement and Shelly Chemeli- the Acting Director Fiscal affairs.
