Mwanzia Mutunga, a resident of Ngali Village in Kanziko Ward, Kitui South, was attacked by an elephant at around 7:30 PM. The incident has raised tensions in the area, with locals expressing frustration over the presence of elephants in their community.
Kanziko MCA, Hon. Kyalo Kimuli, has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to relocate the elephants from the ward. “If KWS fails, the community will take matters into their own hands,” Hon. Kimuli stated.
The attack highlights the ongoing human-wildlife conflict in the region, with residents calling for swift action to ensure their safety.
