In a historic event held at the All Saints Cathedral, the GEMA Cultural Association officially welcomed the Kamba community into its fold, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s efforts to promote unity among communities in Kenya.
The celebrations were graced by senior leaders, including Hon. George Ndoto, the former Kitui County Speaker and a former minister, who co-chairs the GEMA Association. Hon. Ndoto emphasized the importance of cultural cohesion and highlighted the association’s commitment to fostering inclusivity across diverse Kenyan communities.
“The inclusion of the Kamba community is a testament to our dedication to building bridges and strengthening cultural ties for the betterment of our society,” Hon. Ndoto stated during his address.
Professor Geoffrey Muluvi, another key figure in the association’s leadership, praised the milestone as a step forward in promoting cultural understanding and cooperation. He lauded the Kamba community for embracing the GEMA vision and contributing to the unity agenda.
The event featured rich cultural performances, speeches from community leaders, and a ceremonial pledge to work together towards mutual development and harmony.
GEMA, which stands for Gikuyu, Embu, and Meru Association, has long sought to champion cultural preservation, economic empowerment, and social integration among its member communities. By welcoming the Kamba community, the association aims to broaden its scope and deepen its impact in fostering national unity.
Hon. Ndoto and Professor Muluvi, alongside other dignitaries, reiterated their commitment to using the platform to address pressing societal issues and strengthen Kenya’s cultural heritage.
The celebrations concluded with a renewed call for inclusivity and cooperation among all communities across the nation.
