Hon. Mark Nding’o, a governance and political expert, was featured as a guest on KBC TV’s morning show “Eyes on Politics,” which is part of the “Good Morning Kenya” lineup.
During the interview, Hon. Nding’o, who serves as the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Yatta/Kwa Vonza, shared his insights on several pressing political issues, particularly focusing on the challenges facing county governments in Kenya.
Speaking on the topic of funding, Hon. Nding’o pointed out that financial resources allocated to county governments are insufficient, leading to significant strain on many counties. “Funding to county governments has never been enough; that is why many counties are straining.
Even though some county governments are really trying, there is a need for more funding,” he remarked. His comments highlighted the financial constraints that hamper the effective delivery of services at the county level.
In addition to funding issues, Hon. Nding’o also addressed the critical challenge of corruption within the devolved system of governance. He emphasized the need for greater accountability among leaders to ensure that devolution achieves its intended goals of improving governance and service delivery.
“The biggest problem we have even with devolution is corruption. The country needs accountability in leadership by all leaders,” Hon. Nding’o stated, underscoring the importance of transparency and integrity in public service.
Hon. Mark Nding’o’s appearance on “Eyes on Politics” provided a platform for discussing these key issues, drawing attention to the necessity for reforms that would enhance the effectiveness of devolution and the equitable distribution of resources across all counties in Kenya.
