Kiliko, Kitui rural Sub County, July 16, 2024 – Yatta kwa Vonza MCA, Hon. Mark Ndingo, conducted an inspection visit to the ongoing sump well project at Tiva River in Kiliko, Nyanyaa location. The project, which includes the construction of a sump well and the installation of a solar pump, aims to provide a sustainable water supply for local farming groups and the broader community in Kiliko.
Funded by the County Government of Kitui under the leadership of Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, the project is a significant step towards addressing water scarcity and supporting climate change adaptation efforts. The initiative is expected to benefit various community groups engaged in farming, enhancing agricultural productivity and resilience in the face of climate challenges.
During his visit, Hon. Ndingo expressed satisfaction with the progress and emphasized the importance of such projects in improving the livelihoods of residents. “This project is crucial for our community. It will not only ensure a reliable water supply but also empower our farmers to adapt to climate change and improve their yields,” he stated.
The community members in Kiliko have welcomed the project, expressing optimism that it will alleviate the water shortage issues they have faced for years. The implementation of the solar pump is particularly noteworthy, as it represents a sustainable and eco-friendly solution to water pumping.
