October 30, 2024 – The House today approved a report by the Committee on County Public Investments and Accounts, following the Auditor-General’s examination of Kitui County’s financial statements for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2020. This decision was made in accordance with Section 50(2) of the Public Audit Act, 2015, and the House’s Standing Orders No. 179(6) and 185(2).
The motion was introduced by Hon. Gabriel Mutunga Munyao, the chair of the County Public Investments and Accounts Committee and MCA for Kauwi, and seconded by Hon. Godfrey Muthengi Ndagara, MCA for Tharaka.
The approved report sheds light on the fiscal management of the Kitui County Executive and Assembly, underlining the committee’s role in overseeing public fund usage and compliance with financial protocols. Through this endorsement, the House aims to enhance accountability and transparency, reinforcing its commitment to prudent financial oversight in county governance.
