The Azimio leader Rt Hon Kalonzo Musyoka has declared himself the “de facto” leader of the opposition. Musyoka made the announcement in Mombasa while attending the Kamba cultural festival, emphasizing that the country cannot afford to have a leadership void during these critical times.
“There is something called ‘de facto’. The country cannot afford to have a void,” Musyoka stated, signaling his readiness to take up the mantle of opposition leadership. His assertion comes as over 23 political parties have reportedly endorsed him to lead the opposition front.
Musyoka’s move appears to be an effort to consolidate the opposition under a single, unified leadership, as the Azimio la Umoja coalition seeks to present a formidable challenge to the current government. His endorsement by multiple parties suggests growing support for his leadership within the opposition ranks.
As the political landscape in Kenya continues to evolve, Musyoka’s claim to the opposition leadership will likely shape the future direction of Azimio la Umoja and its role in holding the government accountable.
