Negotiations between the Teachers Service Commission and the unions have led to some positive outcomes, including the government’s allocation of resources for the implementation of the second phase of the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement, effective from 1st July 2024. Additionally, the government has allocated funds to retool teachers for the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

The Ministry emphasized the importance of a consultative approach with all stakeholders to resolve any outstanding issues and create a conducive working environment for teachers.

Parents and guardians are now advised to ensure that their children report to their respective schools for the third term, in line with the school calendar. The Ministry has already disbursed Ksh. 21.8 billion as capitation to all basic education institutions to facilitate a smooth and seamless resumption of school operations.

With the strike called off, the Ministry is hopeful that the upcoming school term will proceed without disruptions, allowing students to continue their education without interruption.
