Former Ambassador to Turkey, Hon. Kiema Kilonzo, has joined forces with Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua in urging the Kamba community to align with President William Ruto’s government for the sake of development and national unity.
Speaking exclusively with TCD Digital, Kiema Kilonzo criticized Wiper leader Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka for leading the Kamba community into the opposition for over two decades, claiming this strategy has hindered development in the region.”Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka should strive to lead the Kamba nation into government instead of keeping them in the opposition.
The time has come for us to focus on development and national unity,” Kiema stated.CS Alfred Mutua echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of the Kamba community engaging with the government of the day to unlock opportunities for growth.
He dismissed tribal alliances, urging the community to avoid being swayed by ethnic political agendas.“We will organize the Kamba community to work within the government. Let us avoid tribal groupings and embrace unity as Kenyans,” Mutua said.
Kiema further questioned the motives behind tribal alliances, asking, “Where did Kambas meet to agree to join GEMA, or is it a political strategy by a few for their own benefit? We should focus on healing and development rather than divisive tribal politics.”
He emphasized that the politics of tribal balkanization belong to the past, urging the Kamba people to prioritize the future of their children by growing up as proud Kenyans rather than being tied to tribal identities.
The remarks come amid ongoing discussions about the political direction of the Kamba community, with some leaders advocating for a closer relationship with the government to ensure their region reaps the benefits of national development projects while others calls for kamba to join GEMA outfit.
