On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, the Kitui County Finance Bill, 2024 was introduced during the County Assembly’s afternoon session and subsequently referred to the Committee on Finance and Economic Planning for further deliberation.
The primary objective of the Bill is to outline various taxes, rates, fees, and charges applicable to goods, services, stock, and other revenue-generating activities within the county. It also aims to establish guidelines for revenue collection to support the county’s financial needs.
The Bill covers a wide range of areas including taxation and charges on properties such as land and buildings, as well as on businesses, markets, agricultural produce, outdoor advertisements, health services, vehicle parking, heritage sites,
county parks, entertainment activities, and mining and extraction operations. Its provisions are designed to enhance revenue collection for the county government while ensuring that essential services are adequately funded.
