Kitui County Government Donates Modern Computers to Ikutha Vocational Centre

Kitui, In a Move to empower youth with essential technological skills, the Kitui County Government, through its Ministry of Youth, Sports, and ICT, has donated 10 modern computers to Ikutha Vocational Centre in Ikutha Ward, Kitui South.

The donation was led by Kitui County’s CECM for Youth, Sports, and ICT, Ms. Phoebe Mutemi, who emphasized the importance of embracing technology in today’s fast-evolving global economy. Speaking at the event, Ms. Mutemi stated, “The world of today demands all of us to embrace technology in our daily activities, from salon and tailoring to carpentry. Using modern technology in research on current global designs and marketing of products and services is essential for youth development.”

Ms. Mutemi reiterated the county government’s commitment to supporting vocational training centers across the region, aiming to equip young people with skills that align with the competitive global market. She emphasized that this support is vital for creating job opportunities, promoting self-employment, and engaging youth in more productive activities.

“The County Government of Kitui remains dedicated to tirelessly supporting Vocational Training Centres. Our goal is to provide an enabling environment that helps young people develop skills for the future,” she added.

The donation is part of a larger initiative by the county government, which has provided similar consignments to other vocational training centers. More such donations are expected to follow in an effort to bolster youth development in Kitui.

Ikutha VTC Principal, Mr. Hassan Kofa, expressed his gratitude for the support, noting that the institution, with its growing population, will greatly benefit from the new computers. “This donation is timely and will significantly enhance the learning experience for our students,” Mr. Kofa said.

Ms. Mutemi was accompanied at the event by Ms. Emma Ngute, Assistant Director for ICT, and Simon Nzomo, an ICT officer, both of whom echoed the county’s unwavering focus on advancing technology-based education in vocational institutions.

This initiative is a testament to Kitui County’s resolve to foster technological empowerment and skills development among its youth, further preparing them for the demands of the modern economy.
