The County Government of Kitui has commenced a data collection initiative aimed at enhancing service delivery and supporting data-driven decision-making for more equitable resource allocation.
The exercise, coordinated by County Executive for Agriculture Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, focuses on gathering comprehensive information on local businesses and land holdings across the county.Speaking during the selection of data enumerators held today at the Kitui Agricultural Training Centre (ATC), Dr. Kimwele emphasized the county government’s commitment to improving service delivery for Kitui residents.
“This data will guide the county in making informed decisions that promote equitable resource allocation and strengthen our ability to serve the people of Kitui effectively,” he stated.
The initiative underscores the County Government’s dedication to fostering transparency and ensuring accessible, efficient services tailored to the needs of its citizens, aligning with Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s vision for Kitui and reinforcing his administration’s pledge to create a foundation for sustainable development and equitable growth across all sectors.
Dr. Kimwele further highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernize and enhance service delivery, noting that the county administration is committed to upholding the “Kitui promise” to its people by ensuring that services directly benefit all residents.
The exercise will encompass collaboration with the national government administration, ensuring that the data collection effort is comprehensive and coordinated across all levels of government, further strengthening the initiative’s reach and impact.
The data collection exercise will be conducted in phases, beginning with phase one in Kitui and Mwingi municipalities. Phase two will cover sub-county headquarters and major markets, followed by phase three in all other shopping centers. Finally, phase four will target markets, cess points, health facilities, and other government institutions across the county.Dr. Kimwele was joined by his counterparts in the Ministries of Trade (Rose Mutuku), Culture (Phoebe Mutemi), Roads (Eng. Reuben Itiko), and Environment (John Mwendandu), as well as Chief Officers Lynn Kitwan (Public Health) and Henry Nyamai (Energy) among other senior county officers.Ends.
