Kitui Deputy Governor Wambua Flags Off TVET Centenary Celebrations in Nguni Town

On July 2, 2024 -Kitui Deputy Governor, HE Wambua Kanani, flagged off a four-day sensitization program for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in Nguni town, Mwingi Central Subcounty. This event marks a significant milestone in the centenary celebrations of TVET institutions, emphasizing their vital role in equipping young people with practical skills necessary for the job market and contributing to economic development.

The centenary torch, which has traveled from Garisa County, will remain in Kitui for four days before continuing its journey to Makueni County on July 5th. The torch’s journey symbolizes a shared commitment among counties to promote TVET education and celebrate its 100-year milestone.

Hon. Jeremiah Mutua, MCA, hosted the ceremony, which included distinguished guests such as Hon. Wanza (MCA Nuu Ward), the CECM for Basic Education, and education directors from both Kitui and Tana River counties. Hon. Mutua emphasized the importance of expanding opportunities and working collaboratively with other leaders for holistic growth and development.

Parents from Nguni Ward are encouraged to enroll their children in Nuu TVET to acquire essential skills for employability.

The sensitization program aims to increase enrollment in TVET institutions, highlighting their critical role in fostering economic development and preparing students for the job market.

Governor Malombe, EGH, will officially launch the sensitization event on July 4th at Mulango Polytechnic. The launch is expected to attract a diverse audience, including students, educators, community leaders, and industry stakeholders. Governor Malombe’s presence underscores the county’s strong commitment to enhancing technical education and empowering its youth, with his clarion call of “Kisomo Nokyo.”

This event is a part of the broader initiative to raise awareness about the importance of TVET institutions and their role in driving economic progress and skill development.
