Kitui County Prepares for Upcoming Rains with Emphasis on Early Agricultural Preparations.

Kitui, August 6, 2024 – Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, Kitui’s Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture and Livestock, has urged farmers to begin early preparations for the upcoming October-December rains. Speaking during his visit to the Agricultural Mechanization Services (AMS) facility, Dr. Kimwele emphasized the importance of timely action to maximize agricultural productivity during the rainy season.
At the AMS facility, Dr. Kimwele inspected the ongoing tractor repair works and stressed the value of the county’s subsidized mechanization services. “The October-December rains are crucial for our agricultural activities. It is imperative that our farmers start preparing their fields early to ensure they are ready to plant as soon as the rains begin,” he stated.
Dr. Kimwele highlighted that utilizing the subsidized services would reduce costs, increase efficiency, and improve yields. The county administration is committed to supporting farmers through various initiatives designed to boost agricultural output and enhance livelihoods.
During his visit, Dr. Kimwele was accompanied by Chief Officer Gladys Kivoto (Agriculture & Fisheries), Dorcus Ileve (Manager, AMS), Eng. Victor Marende, and other officials. He expressed satisfaction with the readiness of the AMS tractors and equipment and reassured farmers of the county’s ongoing support.
