Everyone Kitavi represented the Ministry of Energy, Environment, Climate Change, Forestry, and Natural Resources, and celebrated Kenya’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.

Mazingira Day was officially recognized after President William Ruto assented to the Miscellaneous Amendments Bill 2024, following its declaration during the 2023 Utamaduni Day. The day has been set aside for all Kenyans to actively participate in environmental conservation activities, such as tree planting, in line with the government’s ambitious goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032 to combat the effects of climate change.

The Kitui event began with a clean-up exercise in the Kiembeni and Manyengo areas from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by an Environmental Education Community Forum at KTTC. The forum covered key topics including climate change, resource management, waste management, and biodiversity, offering a platform for dialogue and learning about the future of environmental conservation in the region.
