Kitui Mp Dr. Makali Mulu Applauds Ksh. 387 Billion Allocation to Counties

Outstanding Mp. Hon. Dr. Makali Mulu, Member of Parliament for Kitui Central, has hailed the Mediation Committee’s resolution on the Division of Revenue (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which allocates a record Ksh. 387 billion to County Governments.

Speaking at Parliament Buildings, Dr. Mulu described the agreement as a significant milestone in Kenya’s devolution agenda. He emphasized the critical role County Governments must play in ensuring efficient use of the funds, saying, “This agreement reflects our dedication to devolution and the well-being of Kenyans. It is now up to Counties to deliver.”

The MP urged County leaders to prioritize impactful service delivery, eliminate inefficiencies, and avoid financial mismanagement to maximize the benefits for citizens.

The Bill, which aims to secure smooth operations and service delivery at the devolved level, will now head to Parliament for final approval. Lawmakers have committed to fast-tracking the process to prevent disruptions in County operations.
