I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the families and friends who have tragically lost their beloved children in the devastating road accident in Kyoani, Kitui South. The pain of losing such young, innocent lives is beyond words, and my thoughts and prayers are with you during this unbearable time of grief.
It is with profound sadness that we mourn the untimely passing of six schoolchildren, whose lives were cruelly cut short in a senseless accident caused by an overspeeding vehicle. I urgently call on all drivers to strictly observe traffic regulations and exercise the utmost caution on the roads. Speeding endangers not only your life but also the lives of innocent pedestrians and fellow road users.
To the Kyoani Secondary and Kyoani Primary Schools, which have lost these precious children, we share in your sorrow and stand with you in your time of grief. I have personally spoken with the headteachers of both schools, and the families of the victims have been notified. The driver involved in this tragic incident has surrendered to the authorities and is currently in custody at the Mutomo Police Station as investigations continue. The impact on the school community is immeasurable, with both students and teachers deeply traumatized by this heartbreaking event.
This new road has already seen multiple accidents. While we await the outcome of the investigations, I strongly urge all road users to drive with extreme care. Let this be a stark reminder of the importance of road safety. We must act now to prevent further loss of life.
In this moment of immense sorrow, may the bereaved families find the strength and comfort they need. May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.
