Yatta Kwa Vonza Member of the County Assembly (MCA), Hon. Mark Ndingo, joined fellow MCAs and County Assembly leadership in Migwani Ward to prepare for the inaugural Bunge Mashinani sittings.
The tour, led by Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, included an inspection of facilities at Migwani A.I.C. Primary School. The delegation assessed the readiness of the school to host the historic decentralized Assembly sessions scheduled for November 18th to 22nd, 2024.
Key areas inspected included the field designated for the plenary tent, classrooms identified as committee rooms, lavatories, and other essential infrastructure. The aim was to ensure the venue is fully equipped to support the County Assembly’s operations outside its traditional chambers in Kitui Town.
During the visit, Speaker Kinengo expressed satisfaction with the preparations:
“I am truly impressed by the exceptional work done here so far. The dedication and effort put into preparing this area have been remarkable. The House is now ready to host its inaugural Bunge Mashinani in this area, and I believe it will set a great example for future sittings,” he stated.
The Bunge Mashinani initiative seeks to bring legislative processes closer to the people, promoting inclusivity and public participation in governance. The sessions will adhere to the same procedures as those held in the main County Assembly Chamber.
As part of the visit, the delegation also paid a courtesy call on the host MCA, Hon. Harrison Maluki, who is the Leader of the Majority Party.
The Bunge Mashinani sittings are expected to enhance citizen engagement and awareness of County Assembly operations, setting a milestone for Kitui County’s governance.
