Kwa Vonza, August 15, 2024 – The Kwa Vonza community gathered in large numbers today to mark a significant milestone in the history of the Catholic Church in the region. The event celebrated 60 years of Catholic evangelism at Kwakilui Parish, a ceremony graced by the presence of Hon. Ndingo, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Kwa Vonza, and Bishop Joseph Mwongela.
The celebrations were marked by several key events, including the grand opening of the late Bishop William Dunne Secretariat, a new facility that will serve as a vital administrative hub for the parish. Additionally, a borehole was inaugurated, promising to provide much-needed water to the local community.
In a particularly heartwarming moment, 32 couples solemnized their unions in a holy matrimony ceremony presided over by Bishop Mwongela. The mass wedding was a testament to the enduring faith and commitment of the parishioners, who have been a cornerstone of the Catholic Church’s mission in the area for six decades.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Ndingo commended the church for its unwavering dedication to spiritual and social development in the region. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the church and local leaders in fostering community growth and improving the lives of residents.
