Mark Ndingo Leads Kyainya Community in Celebrating Borehole Project Launch

Kyainya, Vonza, 5th September 2024 – In a historic event today, the residents of Kyainya village in Ilika location gathered at Kyainya Primary School to witness the site handover for the drilling of a borehole, a long-awaited project that promises to deliver clean water to the community for the first time since independence.

The ceremony, presided over by Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Ndingo, was attended by directors of Miltons Company Limited and a representative from Urgent Action Fund Africa, the key stakeholders in the project. The borehole initiative, which is part of Miltons Ltd’s Community Social Responsibility (CSR) program, is set to bring much-needed relief to the area, which has been reliant on the contaminated waters of the Athi River for decades.

The borehole is expected to be completed within the next few months, with plans to set up a distribution system to ensure that the clean water reaches every household in Kyainya.

Residents expressed their joy and gratitude for the project, with many noting that access to clean water will reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases and free up time spent fetching water from distant sources.

The project marks a significant step towards sustainable development in the region and sets a precedent for future CSR initiatives aimed at improving rural livelihoods.
