In a political shift that is expected to lead kamba nation into dreamland, a group of influential Kamba leaders from the powerful Anzauni clan has announced their intention to align with President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration.
The leaders, who cited decades of neglect and underdevelopment, made the declaration during a high-profile Thanksgiving dinner hosted by National Liberal Party (NLP) leader and Anzauni Patron, Dr. Augustus Muli, at his luxurious Misuuni residence in Kitui Central.
Dr. Muli, flanked by key political and business figures, expressed the region’s resolve to abandon opposition politics and seek active participation in national governance. “We are tired of being spectators in Kenya’s development arena,” Dr. Muli stated emphatically. “The Anzauni clan has resolved to work with the government of the day. We are ready to sit at the table, not just as guests, but as active participants shaping the future of our people.”
The move comes amid growing discontent over the region’s perceived marginalization in government projects and appointments, which the leaders attribute to years of opposition politics.
Call for Representation
The leaders urged President Ruto to appoint a Cabinet Secretary from the Ukambani region, signaling their readiness to collaborate with the government. Anzauni elder David Mwoni highlighted the consequences of political isolation, saying, “Our region has been ignored for far too long because of bad political choices. We cannot afford to sit in opposition any longer. It’s time for the Kamba people to stand with the winning side.”
Other influential figures at the event, including business tycoon Tom Luusa, former Kitui Central parliamentary aspirant Moses Banda, and Engineer Dennis Mwangangi, a former Kitui South MP aspirant, echoed these sentiments. They emphasized the need for urgent government intervention to uplift the region’s development.
“This is not about politics anymore; it’s about survival. If Ruto wants peace and unity, he must give Kambas a Cabinet Secretary. We demand our place at the national table,” Engineer Mwangangi declared.
Strategic Realignment
The Thanksgiving dinner turned into a rallying call for unity, with insiders revealing ongoing talks with senior Kenya Kwanza officials. The leaders pledged to lobby aggressively for government projects and appointments to ensure the region is no longer left behind.
The announcement signals a potential realignment in Ukambani politics, which has traditionally leaned towards opposition. Analysts believe this move could redefine the region’s future in national politics.
President Ruto’s Next Move
As the Kamba leaders knock on the doors of the Kenya Kwanza government, all eyes are now on President Ruto. Will he extend an olive branch to the region and solidify his support base in Ukambani? The political stakes are high, and the coming months will determine whether this bold strategy pays off for the Anzauni clan and the wider Kamba community.
