The Machakos County Assembly has unanimously approved a report addressing a petition filed by the Sabaki Residents Association. The plenary sitting, chaired by Speaker Anne Kiusya, marked a significant milestone in addressing the concerns raised by residents of the Sabaki area.
The report was presented by Hon. Daniel Mutinda Ndwiki, the MCA for Mlolongo and Chairperson of the Lands and Energy Committee. It delves into critical issues affecting the residents, including land disputes, infrastructure challenges, and access to essential services.
“This report represents a collective effort to address long-standing concerns of the Sabaki residents. As a committee, we have worked tirelessly to ensure their voices are heard and that tangible solutions are proposed,” Hon. Ndwiki stated during the session.
The adoption of the report demonstrates the Assembly’s commitment to prioritizing the needs of its constituents. Speaker Anne Kiusya commended the Lands and Energy Committee for its diligence, urging the county government to implement the recommendations promptly.
The Sabaki Residents Association petitioned the Assembly earlier this year, highlighting several pressing issues that had hindered development in the area. The approval of this report is expected to pave the way for meaningful action to resolve these challenges and improve the quality of life for residents.
The Assembly’s decision underscores the role of local government in fostering transparency and accountability through inclusive governance.
