Yatta Kwa Vonza Member of Kitui County Assembly, Hon. Mark Ndingo, has urged Ukambani leaders to expedite the issuance of national identity cards and intensify voter registration efforts for individuals aged 18 and above.
Speaking exclusively with TCD digital Hon. Ndingo emphasized the critical need to boost voter numbers in Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni counties ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The MCA projected that with concerted efforts, Ukambani can amass over 3 million registered voters. He asserted that this would significantly enhance the political influence of the region and strengthen Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s bid for national leadership.
“It is possible to secure over 3 million votes for Kalonzo Musyoka from Makueni, Machakos, and Kitui. These numbers will elevate him as a formidable candidate at the national level,” Hon. Ndingo stated.
To achieve this goal, the MCA called on leaders and community members to make voter registration a priority in all settings, including churches, funerals, and social gatherings. He underscored the importance of continuous awareness campaigns to ensure eligible residents acquire identity cards and register as voters.
“This should be a clarion call in every forum. The awareness process must remain ongoing until election time,” he added.
The initiative aligns with broader efforts to empower the Ukambani region politically by ensuring maximum voter turnout in the upcoming elections. Hon. Ndingo urged collaboration among leaders to ensure no eligible voter is left out of the registration process.
This call for action comes at a time when voter registration rates across the country have been flagged as below expectations, with many regions pushing for intensified mobilization to meet electoral targets.
