Mining CS Launches Investigative Unit to Combat Illegal Mining

The Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Hassan Joho, has unveiled a specialized investigative arm under the Mining Police Unit to tackle illegal mining activities. The new unit will be headed by Fatuma Ali, a seasoned investigator and former DCIO of Kilimani.

Speaking during the launch, CS Joho emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding natural resources and ensuring mining operations adhere to legal and ethical standards. Commander Fatuma Ali vowed to crack down on cartels and enhance compliance in the sector.
