MP Peter Salasya Criticizes Raila Odinga, Calls for His Silence on Kenyan Affair
In a surprising turn of events, Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has openly criticized Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga, accusing him of betraying his followers and prioritizing his personal ambitions over the welfare of the Kenyan people.
“We respect you, but you do not respect us, Baba Raila Odinga,” Salasya wrote. He further criticized Odinga for what he perceives as a series of public relations stunts and accused the veteran politician of undermining the efforts of his own supporters. Salasya hinted at Odinga’s close relationship with President William Ruto, claiming that the two have been in contact privately while publicly maintaining a facade of opposition.
Salasya’s comments reflect a growing dissatisfaction among some younger leaders in ODM, who feel that Odinga’s actions have alienated them from the party’s core mission. The MP also wished Odinga success in his bid for a leadership position in the African Union but urged him to focus on his continental ambitions and leave Kenyan politics to others for the time being.
This outburst from Salasya comes amid ongoing political tensions in Kenya, as the country continues to navigate the complex landscape of post-election governance and opposition dynamics. Raila Odinga has yet to respond to the MP’s comments, but the remarks have already sparked debate among political observers and the public alike.
As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how this internal discord within ODM will affect the party’s future and the broader political climate in Kenya.
