Watchdog Committee Engages Acting Assembly Clerk Over Audit Queries_

The Acting Clerk of the Assembly, Ms. Lucy Waema, today appeared before the Assembly’s Watchdog Committee to address audit queries raised by the Auditor General regarding the Assembly’s financial statements for the fiscal years 2020/2021 and 2021/2022. The Auditor General had issued a qualified opinion on the financial reports, citing several concerns that required further clarification.

Led by Chairperson Hon. Gabriel Munyao (Kauwi), the committee rigorously questioned the acting Clerk, focusing on the discrepancies and issues highlighted in the Auditor General’s report. Hon. Munyao directed Ms. Waema to provide all necessary documentation to substantiate the Assembly’s responses to the audit concerns.

The committee emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in managing public funds and reiterated their commitment to ensuring that all audit issues are thoroughly addressed.
