President Ruto Signs Supplementary Appropriation Bill into Law, Boosting Key Sectors

NAIROBI, August 5, 2024 – President William Ruto has signed the Supplementary Appropriation (No.2) Bill (National Assembly Bill No. 39 of 2024) into law, signaling a significant boost for agriculture, education, and healthcare in Kenya. The signing ceremony took place at State House, Nairobi.

This bill marks a critical step in the government’s commitment to enhancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC). It allocates resources to fund medical internships, contract UHC workers, and support Community Health Promoters, strengthening healthcare delivery across the country.

In education, the bill facilitates the permanent hiring of Junior School interns and supports a new financing model for higher education, addressing both immediate staffing needs and long-term educational financing.

Agriculture, a key pillar of Kenya’s economy, also benefits from increased funding, aimed at bolstering food security and supporting farmers.

President Ruto emphasized the importance of these investments, stating that the bill aligns with his administration’s focus on improving essential services and creating sustainable opportunities for all Kenyans.
