In a move toward enhancing water security in the region, Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA, Hon. Mark Ndingo’s team led a public gathering at Muvitha to raise awareness and engage the community regarding the upcoming construction of a sand dam at Musosya River, Katoloni. The event, which drew a large crowd, aimed to involve residents in the critical project that promises to improve access to water resources.
The sand dam project is set to be constructed by the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in collaboration with the Kitui County Government. This initiative falls under the leadership of Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, EGH, who has been actively championing sustainable development projects across the county.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Mark Ndingo’s team emphasized the importance of the sand dam in addressing water scarcity issues in the region. “This project is not just about building infrastructure; it’s about securing the future of our community. Water is life, and this dam will ensure that our people have a reliable source of water even during dry seasons,” said Ndingo.
The community was encouraged to actively participate in the construction process and support the maintenance of the dam once completed. Representatives from ADRA and the county government also highlighted the technical aspects of the project and the expected benefits for the local population.
Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, EGH, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to collaborating with development partners like ADRA to implement projects that uplift the lives of Kitui residents. The sand dam at Musosya River is part of a broader strategy to enhance water conservation and promote sustainable livelihoods in the area.
